There are certain qualifications that must be met.

Scholarships for Children of Police and Fire Department Employees

In 2017 when Herb Wender was celebrating the 40-year anniversary of the company he was instrumental in founding, the company’s executives asked Mr. Wender what they could do to honor him. At Mr. Wender’s suggestion the company decided to make a charitable donation to a 501(c)3 selected by him. After much research he selected the already existing Foundation scholarship program which was given a financial boost, and through the Company’s donation and Mr. Wender’s continued annual support of the scholarship, the Herb and Penny Wender Scholarship Program was born.

How it works

The Scholarship Program assists the qualified dependent children of employees of the Palm Beach Gardens (PBG) Police and Fire Rescue Departments in their pursuit of education after High School. Fire and Police Explorers are also eligible to apply.

Annual scholarships of $5,000 are awarded to students who submit applications along with any supportive documentation that demonstrate that they have met the eligibility criteria.

The applications are reviewed by a committee of board members, the “Scholarship Committee”, who select the recipients.
